Dealing with...People Trial 1

It seems like everyday I find a new reason to become a hermit. I understand the psychology behind what drives people. However, when someone does something mean, I dont get how they get to the point where they NEED to hurt another. Maybe people can liken this to suicidal thougths but I get those. I have been there. I go there every so often. It happens. But I never truely think about hurting someone else. It doesnt make sense to me.
I am writing this because I am having a tough time dealing with a situation. It started with me not wanting to hurt someone or be that catalyst that causes someone to do something terrible to themselves. Being sensitive to their situation and knowing their state of mind makes me worry about how to approach the subject. How do you tell someone something that you know will hurt them and in turn they will hurt themselves(more than likely physically)? Do you keep it to yourself? Do you just not say anything and shy away from the entire situation until they get the picture?
What makes it worse is that this person had a minor break down and because the situation wasn't dealt with quick enough, this will be decided as the contributing factor, when it isnt.
I just don't know how to go about dealing with this since I have been there so many times before and it seems like the situations get worse every time and the answer is never clear.

And on a side note/situation: Why does one person always become the brunt of peoples jokes or the one constantly and consistently picked on? I'm 26 and you would have thought that childish antics would have dissipated but that seems to not be the case.

Shiver of Light

Many years ago I stumbled across a book, whilst “Cover Shopping”, which intrigued me from the moment I laid eyes upon its cover. The author was Up-N-Coming, and didn't have many other books out there. Her name was Laurell K. Hamilton. I purchased the book and since then I have been on a journey filled with Vampires, Were-creatures, Zombies, Necromancers and more. In today’s world it isn't uncommon to find several bookstore shelves devoted to her many different works.
In a world created by Laurell, we meet Meredith Gentry a Faerie Princess, descendant of not one but several fertility goddesses, who has left the Fae world to live in secret as a Private Detective in the human world. She lives with her many men, and other fae that have been exiled from Faerie.
In the most recent story of Merry’s, we begin with her being pregnant however she doesn't stay that way for very long.
From here I am not really sure what to put. The entire rest of the story was one long OMG fest and it felt like a very long drawn out conversation repeating the same issue. I was thouroughly disappointed in this book. I am still a very big Laurell K. Hamilton fan however, I feel that with how long we waited for this chapter in Merry's story that it was like a last minute story put together, with mostly filler words in between the page or 2 of actual storyline.
I wish that I had more to say on this matter but I am afraid if I delve more into the subject I will only become harsh with my objections and criticisms. There is a reason I am not an official book critic- I think about people's feelings.

The Academy: Introductions

It was over a year ago. I was living in Lafayette, LA. A place where people speak 3 different language yet everyone understands one another for the most part. A place where tailgating, Cajun steamed shrimp, and what the locals think is country music but is really Bayou- a genre unto itself, are abundant everywhere. It is here, the place laid out like a grip map but the two main streets are traffic nightmares, where I was introduced to a fine group of ladies. Each of these ladies has their own flair accompanied by a vibrant personality. One of them, I came to learn was a self-publishing author. C.L. Stone is how her fans know her and she is a fantastic person. So, because she and her friends adopted me into their group when I was in a foreign city alone I feel I owe the first book review to her.

The Academy: Introductions is an introductory novel. It lets you get to know the main character, a young sheltered girl by the name of Sang and the unlikely group of friends that she makes shortly before starting at a new school. It gives you a taste of the mystery that surrounds the group of boys that befriend Sang and bring her into her group.

C.L. Stone has a knack for not overly explaining things and keeping you intrigued every step of the way. You find yourself wanting to be there for Sang and help her through all of the trials and tribulations that she is put through.

Now this first book might be a little raw, as in there are a few grammatical and spelling errors but it’s nothing major. I know firsthand that these are because she just wanted to get the book out there and let people start getting to know the group before she release The Academy: First Days.

So in conclusion, if you like YA and mystery spiced with a bit of romance then The Academy series is for you. Just start with Introductions and go from there. Below are some links on where to buy the books. Happy Reading!

Where to begin

So first things first, this blog is for book reviews primarily. However, it is also a way for new upcoming authors to promote their books or utilize me as a beta-reader. Since I love to video game as well that might get added into the mix but for now I'm going to stick with books and the occasional movie. I am also an avid runner so I'll have a page that will be updated with Runs in the South-East United States with a focus on Alabama. With that said, what Adventure shall we have first?
